Research Done For The J.M. Family

The Masters in Genealogy program at the University of Strathclyde tasked Andre Celotto to perform genealogical research on a family as detailed below:

Required Information

  • To produce a four Generation Ancestor’s study.
  • Ensure all data were fully referenced in line with Reference Guide of the Strathclyde University Genealogical Department.
  • To produce a 4-Generation Ancestor Report using Advanced Genealogy Software.
  • Provide the following information:  birth, baptism, marriage, death, probate  census(es) and occupations from census records, military services, death and burials. Including the dates and places of all these events/items.
  • Provide the Notes and Facts from the above events.
  • Generate a Family Tree as a GEDCOM file.

Results Summary

  • I was able to find the following: birth,  baptism, marriage, death, probate census(es) and  occupations from census records, military services, death and burials, with dates and places where it occurred.
  • Researched Ancestry in England and Scotland back to the late 1700s and organized the results.
  • Also researched British, Irish and Scottish Archives.
  • Prepared ancestor reports and charts using The FamilyTree Genealogy Software.
  • Located appropriate portraits of the family online. 
  • Cited the sources according to the Referencing Guide at Strathclyde for Genealogical Research.
